Nate & Regina Binion, Pastor

nate and regina

Nathaniel and Regina Binion shared a dream for Austin, Texas. This dream was to plant a church in the heart of its downtown. Their call to Austin became official in early 2008 when they resigned as staff members to New Life Center in St. Louis, Missouri. On September 1, 2008 they embarked on their journey to Austin. They now find themselves enjoying their new home – a flat in central downtown Austin – with their dogs, Miles and Mocha. On any given night, they can feel the energy and music from Stubbs and other live music venues across the street – and they love it!

Nathaniel and Regina have been in full time ministry for 9 years, serving as staff members at two different churches in St. Louis, Missouri. Most recently, they were at New Life Center pastored by Garry Tracy. Their pastoral leadership duties included student ministry, young adult ministry, outreach and discipleship, strategic development, and small group development.

Though their ministry developed in Missouri, their roots spring from Oklahoma. Nathaniel spent his youth in Oklahoma City while Regina in Tulsa. It was in Oklahoma that Nathaniel and Regina’s paths crossed. The freckles in their eyes aligned, and they soon married.

Nathaniel holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Oklahoma as well as a Master of Theological Studies from Urshan Graduate School of Theology. Regina is a business planner for a St. Louis based pharmaceutical company, Express Scripts. She currently works from Austin via a virtual office.

Nathaniel and Regina chose Austin, Texas because its demographics aligned with their call to plant multi-site downtown churches. Austin is home to one of the largest young adult populations in the country and is famous for its live music and art-driven culture. Nathaniel and Regina were drawn to this culture, as they believe that art is a gift from God that should be celebrated. With both demographics and culture in mind, they believe Kerygma will be a great asset to the people and city of Austin. Furthermore, they wanted to partner with friend and mentor, David Bernard, pastor of New Life UPC, Austin. Along with their team, they are building a foundation for a church that will grow into a grass-roots movement of spirit-led Austinites. They hope to do their part to “Keep Austin Weird!”
