What are you doing in 10 years?
Over the next 10 years, Kerygma wants to build a church using sustainable resources and methods; one that is local with a global vision, flexible in its systems, unafraid to blend rationality with spirituality, and committed to teaching the biblical message. Below are the 6 primary goals we would like to accomplish over the next 10 years. Come join us!
To plant 4 sustainable churches in downtown Austin.
This will be achieved by building congregations or communities within our living regions. As these congregations grow, we envision them combining into four downtown churches: West, SoCo, East Central, and the UT Campus; interdependent but each focused on reaching its own neighborhood. During the week, each congregation will be extended into small groups, making the church community easily accessible to all. A few times per year, all congregations will combine to celebrate together what God is doing. We hope to grow a large church by keeping it small.
To see an ingathering of people looking for biblical Spiritual empowerment and to see people filled with the Holy Spirit and baptized.
To reach this objective, we want to embrace and teach an Apostolic view of a Spirit-led lifestyle which impacts individuals and as well as our city. There is no doubt that spiritual experiences can become a “normality” of Christianity in Austin. It is our desire to see all churches in Austin unified behind the Spirit-led lifestyle as seen in the book of Acts.
To build a grassroots network of leaders who will commit to participate in quantifiable social change in downtown Austin.
We plan to identify areas of social need that few or none are addressing. We want to connect many groups, regardless of race, creed, religion, or background, unified through sustainable and responsible actions that will make Austin a city of interdependent citizens. Kerygma will seek to partner with local and state government in actions that will facilitate “citizen-led” social action which have otherwise been left to government institutions to manage.
To see Kerygma tools being used in every industry of downtown Austin.
Kerygma tools are to be developed and used to promote Kerygma’s focal values: All of Life is Worship, Organic Faith, Village Life, Word Centered, and Spirit Led. We would like to see these tools used in every industry that is represented downtown. Meaning, our applications are to be used for people to see God’s work in their daily lives and to LIVE LIFE FULL. Industry examples include: music and art industries, government, technology, education, etc.
To build an intern network of pastors and team members who commit to plant churches across the country.
There is a need for church planters in this day. We want to see others feel the call to plant new churches in areas all over the world. To aid in this effort, we plan to create a fund to help in the global efforts of church planting. It is also vital that we help in these efforts by developing an internship program and leader/church planter conference to empower pastors, professionals, and trades people to commit their abilities, skills, and talents as tools for church planting. It is going to take the whole church to reach the whole world.
To create a safe haven for individuals searching for direction and spiritual healing.
It is our desire that people view Kerygma as a place of refuge and protection. Kerygma will always have open doors for individuals to come and address questions, seek direction, spiritually heal, and receive spiritual and biblical clarity. We will set aside energy and resources to make sure that individuals are able to have time and space to safely address issues and questions in their lives.
