The commitment to share a goal for the common good of a better city.
Do you know that a huge majority of North America’s young culture is living in or moving to our urban centers? It’s much more than just wanting to be where the action is or living in trendy high rises. It is about opportunity - opportunity to share values, community, and resources. In other words, we are searching for “village living.” This trend may pass, but the desire for real connection will not. What will sustain us through our cycles and trends? Kerygma believes that what our world is searching for is a village that can only be found in the message of Jesus Christ. This is why we are called the body of Christ. We are the hands, feet, and eyes that will help Austin become a greater city. There is a tendency for people to want to be with people just like them. Village Life is an understanding that individualistic thinking makes us weaker, and a community makes us stronger. Rich or poor, educated or uneducated, white or non-white…our city needs each other. Village Life is Living Life Full.
As you get to know Kerygma, you will hear us refer to three descriptors: Kerygma Service, Austin Service, and Urban Groups. These are three methods we use to publicly celebrate Village Life.
